A$AP FERG INTERVIEWS DAPPER DAN ABOUT HIS LEGACY IN FASHION AND HARLEM


The month of August — or AWGEST — belongs to A$AP. All month long, the Harlem-based hip-hop collective is dropping projects like A$AP Twelvyy’s debut album 12, A$AP Ferg’s mixtape Still Striving (arriving on August 18), and A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy, the follow-up to last year's Cozy Tapes Vol. 1: Friends. On top of new music A$AP Rocky's initial AWGEST announcement promised the launch of "content, videos, and a whole bunch of other kool shit," reminding us all that the Mob are not only dudes with myriad interests, but are emblematic of a generation of Harlem creatives carrying on the neighborhood's tradition of pushing culture and art forward.
The neighborhood's influence on culture stretches back to literary innovators like Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston, and jazz pioneers like Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday, but one of Harlem's living legends is Daniel Day, better known as Dapper Dan. Dan's designs defined the look of hip-hop in the '80s and '90s, and the Mob's own A$AP Ferg counts him as one of his mentors.

Alessia Cara left the  VMAs   this past weekend with some serious hardware, taking home her first two Moon Person trophies ever. HARRY STYLES BRINGS US INTO THE STUDIO FOR THIS PERFORMANCE OF 'TWO GHOSTS'

It's crazy to watch this extremely chill rendition of " Two Ghosts " and remember that   Harry Styles literally screamed   when he was asked about the lady he sings about on the track. But yeah: This  Behind the Album  clip of the song off his  self-titled debut  is easy on both the eyes  and the ears, and it's enough to distract you from the rumor mill a-churnin' thanks to the mention of an old (and potentially famous) love's "same lips red, same eyes blue."

MAISIE WILLIAMS AND GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE LOVED THEIR GAME OF THRONES SWORD FIGHT AS MUCH AS YOU DID

It may be one of the most intense series every to hit the small screen, but Game of Thornes  has its uplifting moments — and one of the best occurred in last week's episode, "The Spoils of War," when Arya ( Maisie Williams ) squared off against the mighty Brienne of Tarth ( Gwendoline Christie ) in an impromptu, friendly sword fight. And as fun as it was for us to watch, it was "great fun" for the actresses to shoot the scene — even if their, uh, differences made for a unique challenge that neither of them had faced while shooting a  GoT swordplay sequence before. In an interview with  Entertainment Weekly , Williams and Christie recount the scene and how they prepared for it, or, specifically, how they dealt with the fact that they were fighting a foe that was either over a foot taller or over a foot shorter than them.
